The 5464-658 is a digital speed sensor module developed by Woodward. Digital speed sensor modules require no additional signal conditioning or calibration, simplifying maintenance and reducing complexity. It is designed to provide accurate speed measurements without the use of potentiometers or the need for frequent calibration adjustments. This ensures long-term reliability and minimizes potential errors or deviations in speed measurements.
Speed sensor input
reads the MPU and proximity probe inputs and provides speed for the application. Application software provides derivative output if required. The Analog Combo module filters the speed sensor input, and the filtering time constant can be selected between 8 ms or 16 ms by an application software program.
For most applications, 8 milliseconds is sufficient. For very slow applications, it might take 16 milliseconds. The maximum speed that the module will detect is determined by the speed range. The control output of the software will detect a minimum speed of one-fiftieth of the speed range.
This can detect faulty speed sensors, which helps prevent overspeed due to slow update times at very low speeds.
The monitor output of the GAP module will read up to 0.5 Hz regardless of the speed range. Any combination of acceptable MPUs and proximity probes, as well as any combination of speed ranges, can be used in the application. A passive magnetic pickup unit (MPU) or proximity probe can be used in any of the module’s four speed channels. Each speed input channel can only accept one MPU or proximity probe.
